The Celt Small Batch Irish Whiskey - A Brief Introduction to Our Newest Family Member
We are absolutely thrilled to announce the launch of our new release, The Celt Irish Whiskey! Independently bottled through Celtic Whiskey Shop, The Celt Irish Whiskey “An Chead Bhlás” (or “First Taste”) is a small batch, no-age statement single malt, finished in sherry casks from an unspecified Irish distillery and is sold exclusively from our store on Dawson Street or online here.
Headed by Founder and Managing Director Ally Alpine, we have been sourcing and purchasing casks of whiskey from different Irish distilleries dating back over a decade. Our initial ventures came in the form of Cooley sourced casks, which we then finished in wine casks supplied by a number of the wineries which Celtic import from. This shaped our own award-winning brand back in 2012, the Celtic Cask. To date, we have released twenty-nine Celtic Casks, one Dingle Celt and a Celtic Whiskey Shop Anniversary bottling. In recent years, we have purchased casks from the majority of new distilleries in Ireland which are slowly maturing for future single cask or small batch releases.
The ethos behind The Celt is to create a premium quality Irish whiskey that can be shared and enjoyed with friends for a reasonable price. Our intention with this, as stated by Ally Alpine, “is to release what we consider are excellent, tasty whiskeys at affordable prices. Unusually, for Celtic Whiskey, we are limiting the product info on the whiskey as we aren’t looking for comparisons with the distilleries that distilled them. We would like them to be enjoyed & shared for their quality rather than having any collectible value”.
With the cancellation of Whiskey Live Dublin 2020 due to Covid 19, we at Celtic Whiskey will aim to raise funds for their charity partner Down Syndrome Dublin by alternative methods. Therefore, €5.00 from each bottle of The Celt sold will be directly donated to this worthy cause which supports and enhances the lives of its members and their families.
